Meet Julie Shaw

Julie Shaw, C-IAYT, RYT 500, M.Ed.
In 1988, a long commute to my job as a corporate trainer resulted in back pain.  I looked up “yoga” in the yellow pages and stepped into a life-long practice.  Eventually, I discovered Viniyoga and began studying with Gary Kraftsow, Director of the American Viniyoga Institute™. Viniyoga truly embodied the approach that spoke most clearly to me — adapting yoga practice to the needs of individuals. Today, I am an IAYT- Certified Yoga Therapist. The education and skills of a yoga therapist require a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, emotional health and spirituality, from both the eastern and western perspectives.

My Work Includes

  • Therapeutic yoga classes for groups dealing with conditions like fibromyalgia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, heart disease, and cancer
  • Private work with individuals, many of whom are referred by their physicians, to design a personal yoga practice that complements their existing healthcare plan
  • Public workshops on topics like Stress Management, Better Sleep, and Relieving Back Pain
