I’ve worked out at the gym for many years, and Julie helped me break through the cycle of pain that had developed in my shoulder so I could continue doing the kind of exercise I enjoy most.

I had been living with low back pain for years, but my yoga therapy practice cured it. And it was easy to integrate into my daily routine. I still use it faithfully.

Yoga Therapy has helped me become more aware of how my lower back, hips and even knees are related. Since beginning sessions with Julie, I have not suffered from any lower back spasms for over three years now. Julie is full of helpful little tips to make daily life more comfortable and enjoyable, whether your goal is athletic performance or just getting in and out of your car without aggravating your back. She has a wealth of knowledge ranging from a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology to the psychology of yoga.

I have studied yoga with Julie for ten years now, and cannot possibly describe the positive benefits that have resulted from having such a special teacher. Julie’s depth of knowledge, her keen intelligence and intuitive sensibility all combine to make her yoga classes, or yoga therapy sessions meaningful and personal. She is warm and welcoming, making the unbelievable wealth of information she shares a true gateway to a state of well-being that is accessible to anyone. A life-long learner, whether focusing on technical aspects of asana, benefits of breath work, or qualities of mind, such as gratitude or contentment, Julie always has a new perspective or interesting comment to spark engagement in her students. She offers her students a broad array of techniques and tools, creating a unique and effective learning experience. My many classes, sessions and workshops with her have led to resolution of physical ailments, especially a Sacroiliac issue that had plagued me for 20 years, a vastly improved sense of overall well-being, and in general a happier, more peaceful life.
I am a 75-year old retiree and have worked with Julie one-on-one for several years. I selected a Viniyoga therapist because during my research I read that they are trained extensively to deal with clients who have medical/physical issues. I cope with two autoimmune diseases, and have had back problems for years. Julie far exceeded my expectations. She is highly professional, did a thorough intake of my medical history and then designed an appropriate program, which has evolved naturally with each lesson as she listens carefully to the challenges that arise during my home practice.
Since working with Julie, my posture, balance, and back issues have greatly improved. In addition, my overall confidence in moving and performing everyday tasks has risen. Julie is a very knowledgeable, skilled, careful, flexible, and encouraging instructor. Her main focus is always what the client needs at each lesson. She delights in my progress, but never pushes me beyond what she ascertains is safe and appropriate for my age and condition. We are now working on various forms of yoga breathing for calming and relaxation. I highly recommend Julie to anyone, whatever her/his age or physical condition!
“I have been a yoga student for 25 years and in 2001 trained at Kripalu to become a certified yoga instructor. Needless to say, I love my practice. Fast forward to 2017 and an MRI showing degeneration of lumbar discs. I “backed off” my practice to do PT and then consulted with Julie to help me develop a safe and therapeutic yoga routine. Since doing that routine faithfully for almost two months now, I find myself significantly more comfortable as I move, and…I am back on my mat again. Grateful I am!!!”

“The most important thing I have learned from working with Julie is the important role that my breath plays in everything I do. Finding my own breath and learning to deepen it has opened up my awareness of my physical condition, as well as my emotional reactions.”
